Biodiversity Conservation Directorate
The directorate stands to ensure that the region’s biodiversity and the associated community knowledge are properly conserved and sustainably utilized, and the region and its communities get fair and equitable share of the benefits arising from their utilization. As to the importance of biodiversity and the region’s dependence on biological resources is clear, conservation efforts give emphasis to local and national needs and values. The directorate, thus, is concerned with conservation and promoting the sustainable utilization of region’s biodiversity. The directorate has successfully accomplished a cross border taskforce (Somali region-Somaliland) intended to overcome the illegal trading of the wildlife
