On August 29, 2025, a new curriculum developed over more than one year was officially finalized in Bishoftu City, Oromia Region. The curriculum, titled “Wear Green Future”, is designed to promote environmentally responsible skills development.
The curriculum will be integrated into TVET education programs, with a strong focus on garment, fashion, and textile skills. Special attention has been given to the environmental and climate change impacts of these industries, ensuring that sustainability principles are embedded within vocational training.
The closing ceremony of the curriculum development process was attended by H.E. Marwo Abdiaziz Abdullahi, Deputy Bureau Head of the SRS Environmental Protection and Rural Land Administration Bureau (SRS.EPRLAB), and Mr. Hilal Mohamed, Director of Climate Change at the Bureau.
The curriculum was jointly developed by the SRS Environmental Protection and Rural Land Administration Bureau (SRS.EPRLAB), the Skills and Job Creation Office, and the Edukan organization, based on the need to integrate job-creating skills with environmental protection. The initiative aims to prepare a curriculum that minimizes negative impacts on climate change and environmental degradation.
In her closing remarks, H.E. Marwo Abdiaziz Abdullahi emphasized that the curriculum is expected to significantly enhance students’ skills, knowledge, and awareness, and to play a vital role in building a skilled and environmentally conscious generation capable of responding to climate change challenges.
