On December 15, 2025 a significant training workshop marking the launch of the Natural Resource Productivity Enhancement Project was held in Jigjiga City, at the Istanbul Hotel Conference Hall. The project focuses on strengthening the production and utilization of key natural resources, particularly myrrh, gum resin, and honey.
The training was attended by representatives from relevant sector offices at the local level, Boodaley District Administration, and staff members of the SRS Environmental Protection and Rural Land Administration Bureau (SRS.EPRLAB).
The workshop was officially opened by H.E. Abdikadir Mohammed Hassan, Deputy Bureau Head of the SRS Environmental Protection and Rural Land Administration Bureau (SRS.EPRLAB).
The primary objective of the training was to establish and strengthen cooperatives engaged in the production of myrrh, gum resin, and honey, with the aim of improving product quality, enhancing market access, and promoting sustainable utilization of natural resources. The initiative seeks to ensure that these resources contribute to long-term economic development for local communities.
Participants were provided with the opportunity to share experiences, present innovative ideas, and learn modern techniques aimed at improving both the production processes and marketing systems of locally available natural resources.
This training forms part of ongoing efforts to develop the natural resource sector and to strengthen collaboration between communities and business stakeholders, in order to achieve sustainable development that addresses environmental needs while supporting local economic growth.
