The Environmental Protection and Rural Land Administration Bureau of the Somali Regional State and Jigjiga University have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in research, training, and community awareness.

The agreement establishes a strategic partnership that brings together the Bureau’s implementation and regulatory experience with the University’s academic and research capacity to address key environmental challenges in the region, including deforestation, land degradation, and the impacts of climate change.

Both institutions will also collaborate on joint research, development of rural land administration policies, community awareness initiatives, and capacity building for staff and students.

The agreement will remain in effect for five years and reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to environmental protection and sustainable development.
